Why We Built εὖSKIN: A Scientist's Answer to Compromised Skin

Every brand says it was founded to solve a problem. So let me be specific about ours.

The gap I couldn't stop seeing

As a scientist, I kept meeting the same person. Their skin had become sensitive, reactive or compromised — sometimes from over-enthusiastic routines, sometimes from environment or life circumstances, sometimes during or after medical treatment — and they were standing in front of a wall of products, none of which seemed to be built for them.

What the market offered them fell into two camps. On one side, "sensitive skin" ranges that were ordinary formulas with gentler marketing, sometimes still carrying fragrance. On the other, clinical-looking products that were genuinely simple but treated the customer as a problem to be managed rather than a person to be informed. Nobody was doing the thing that seemed obvious to me: formulate strictly from the evidence, keep the ingredient list as short as the science allows, and then explain every single decision to the customer in plain language.

εὖSKIN — from the Greek εὖ, meaning well or good — was built to be that brand. Skincare for skin that needs things done well, made by people who will show their working.

The principles behind every formula

Evidence first, trends never. An ingredient earns its place in an εὖSKIN formula through published evidence of function and tolerability, not through what's viral this quarter. This is why you'll find glycerin, squalane and ceramides doing the heavy lifting: unglamorous, exhaustively studied, reliably kind to reactive skin.

Every ingredient must justify itself. Our internal rule is simple: if we can't explain to a customer why an ingredient is in the formula, it comes out. This is also why every product page publishes the full ingredient list with a plain-English explanation of each line. Not a curated highlight reel — the whole list.

Fragrance-free, strictly. No perfume, no masking fragrance, no essential oils, no aroma compounds. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of cosmetic skin reactions and contributes nothing functional. For our customer, it's risk without reward, so it's out — even though it means some of our products smell like their ingredients rather than a spa. We consider that honesty you can smell.

Formulated for the skin we serve. We don't make a general product and then declare it suitable for sensitive skin. Skin prone to reactivity, dryness and compromise is the design brief from the first bench trial: textures that apply without dragging fragile skin, packaging that keeps formulas hygienic, concentrations chosen for tolerability first.

Respect for the customer's intelligence. Our customers read ingredient lists, ask sharp questions and deserve straight answers. You'll never see us claim "chemical-free" or lean on words like "clean" that have no definition. Where the honest answer is "the evidence is mixed" or "ask your doctor", that's the answer we give.

What we will never put in a formula

Added fragrance and masking fragrance. Essential oils. Colourants. Drying alcohols high in the formula. Ingredients whose only job is to make the product seem like more. And, in a different sense, we'll never put in claims we can't stand behind: εὖSKIN products are cosmetics that care for skin prone to sensitivity and dryness — they are not medicines, and if your skin needs medical attention, we'd rather you saw a doctor than bought a cream.

Where we're going

We formulate slowly and launch rarely, because every product carries the same burden of justification as the first. What you can expect from us: a small, coherent range where each product has a clear job; full transparency as the permanent policy, not a campaign; and formulations that keep pace with the evidence, updated when the science genuinely moves.

If you're the person I described at the start — standing in front of the wall of products, skin unhappy, patience gone — εὖSKIN was built for you. Start with our three-step routine, read every ingredient we've used and why, and judge us on the only thing that matters: how your skin feels four weeks from now.

Some questions from our euskin followers:

Who founded εὖSKIN? εὖSKIN was co-founded by Dr Marianna Prokopi-Demetriades, a scientist whose work led her to focus on formulations for sensitive and compromised skin.

What does εὖSKIN mean? The name comes from the ancient Greek εὖ ("eu"), meaning well or good — the same root as in "eudaimonia". Skin, done well.

Is εὖSKIN suitable for sensitive skin? Every formula is designed for skin prone to sensitivity: fragrance-free, short ingredient lists, and barrier-supporting ingredients. As with any cosmetic, patch test first, and see a doctor for persistent or severe skin concerns.
